About the Initiative
Why We Created This Program
At TPS Instruments, we work closely with water quality professionals across Australia. We've heard a consistent story from many businesses: they want to grow their teams with motivated, technically capable people, but they find it tricky to source talent.
At the same time, our partners at Leichhardt Education and Training were telling us about students who had excelled through their Certificate II in Environmental Sampling and Measurement - graduates with hands-on field experience and and a genuine passion for working in water - but who needed a pathway into the industry.
The Water Industry Pathways Initiative is how we're bridging that gap. It's a straight-forward way for businesses in our network to signal that they have an opportunity - and for Leichhardt to connect their best students with employers who are ready to welcome them.
No advertising costs. No recruitment headaches. Just a quiet conversation between us - and a great outcome for a student who's earned it.
How It Works

The whole process is designed to be as easy as possible for participating businesses. There's no formal recruitment process, no public job listing required, and no obligation - just a conversation starter.

We Inform Leichhardt
TPS passes your details to the team at Leichhardt Education and Training, who review your opportunity against their graduating cohort.

For Businesses in Our Network
If you're a TPS customer, partner, or distributor operating anywhere in Australia, you're welcome to participate. We're particularly looking for organisations working in environmental consulting, water utilities, aquaculture, natural resource management, government agencies, and research institutions.
For Leichhardt Students
Students who complete their Certificate II in Environmental Sampling and Measurement with Leichhardt gain hands-on experience with professional water quality instruments - including TPS meters - in real field environments. The students referred through this program are those who have demonstrated real commitment and capability.
Types of Opportunities We're Seeking
Work experience for school-leavers or Year 10–12 students, entry-level or early-career roles, and formal apprenticeships or traineeships in environmental or water industry disciplines.
No Strings Attached
Submitting an EOI is not a commitment to hire. It simply opens the door. Once Leichhardt has been in touch and you've had a chance to meet a potential candidate, you decide whether it's the right fit - entirely on your own terms.

About Leichhardt Education and Training
Leichhardt Education and Training is a Queensland-based registered training organisation (RTO) specialising in environmental science education. Through their Certificate II in Environmental Sampling and Measurement, Leichhardt prepares students with practical, industry-relevant skills - including hands-on work with professional water quality instruments in real-world field settings.
Their curriculum is built around the kind of work that matters in the water industry: field sampling, instrument calibration, data recording, safety procedures, and environmental stewardship. Students don't just study theory - they go out and do it.
Both TPS and Leichhardt are eager to see students connect with the wider industry and go on to build meaningful careers.
